Safer Internet Day 2015 will be celebrated globally on Tuesday 10th February with the slogan ‘Let’s create a better internet together’. The day offers the opportunity to highlight positive uses of technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community. It calls upon young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies, policymakers, and wider, to join together in helping to create a better internet.
Here at Avenue we will be holding special assemblies, lessons and activities to link in with this year’s Safer Internet Day theme.
We always encourage that you have regular conversations with your child about e-safety. http://www.saferinternet.org.uk/safer-internet-day/2015/parents has resources to help you initiate and continue those conversations with your child, as well as fact sheets and activities. We also have a designated Parents’ e-safety page on our school website. Please click here.
We use a variety of iPad apps to engage pupils and develop a range of skills such as computing, research, literacy and communication skills.
If you would like to use any of the apps at home, please find a list below. They should be available on other tablets, if not there will usually be a similar alternative:
Drawing and picture apps
Writing, storytelling and brainstorming

For those of you that were unable to attend one of the three meetings we arranged regarding the curriculum, below is a copy of the presentation given. We explained to parents about the new National Curriculum for 2014 and how we have approached it, and also gave some more specific information about what is required by children of a certain age in both English and maths.
