Safer Internet Day 2015 will be celebrated globally on Tuesday 10th February with the slogan ‘Let’s create a better internet together’. The day offers the opportunity to highlight positive uses of technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community. It calls upon young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies, policymakers, and wider, to join together in helping to create a better internet.
Here at Avenue we will be holding special assemblies, lessons and activities to link in with this year’s Safer Internet Day theme.
We always encourage that you have regular conversations with your child about e-safety. http://www.saferinternet.org.uk/safer-internet-day/2015/parents has resources to help you initiate and continue those conversations with your child, as well as fact sheets and activities. We also have a designated Parents’ e-safety page on our school website. Please click here.
Read for my school has got off to a good start. At Avenue we have now read 798 books in Years 3 – 6. The competition has allowed all children to access a variety of books and authors. Please take the time to discuss the books that you have been reading as a family.
In 6P they have been celebrating the success of three children who have read 11 books each! Well done to Aman, Arman and Anna. Who will be top of the leaderboard next week?
